My photo
What can I say about myself that is interesting to someone else. Hmmmm..... I am a mother, first and foremost and my kids are very important to me. Also, even though this was hard to admit, I am a Grandma. Love them soooo much. I am also a girl friend. I have someone in my life who loves me. It's a wonderful feeling. Also, I have a great job. I am not going to reveal how many years I have worked at my job in the travel business but it is over a quarter of a century. Yikes!!! Anyway, thanks for visiting me. I will try to update and keep my blog interesting so you can keep up with me and my life.

Red Velvet Cookies, recipe included

I added a new cookie to my baking this past Christmas.  I came across this recipe and I just had to make them.  Red Velvet Cookies.  They were yummy and moist and the kind of cookie I can eat for breakfast in the morning.

The reason I am sharing them in my blog is because I have been asked to make them for a function.  Sooooo....   someone likes them enough to request them from me.  I love that!!  I love to make something that someone requests. Check out how yummy they look.

I kind of felt like I was cheating when I made these because they are made with this.  It makes it soooo easy to fall in love with this recipe, I am all about short cuts.
Thanks for letting me share one of my new favorite cookies.

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker® sugar cookie mix
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon red food color
1 egg
3/4 to 1 cup Betty Crocker® Rich & Creamy cream cheese frosting
1/4 cup chopped nuts

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, stir cookie mix, cocoa, butter, sour cream, food color and egg until soft dough forms.
  2. Roll dough into 1-inch balls; place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake 8 to 9 minutes or until set. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.
  4. Frost cooled cookies with frosting. Sprinkle with nuts. Store tightly covered at room temperature.

Daily Tea Towels

I came across a Gooseberry Patch book many years ago with alot of projects that I would love to accomplish.  One of them was to needle point these cute daily tea towels. I have actually finished them and I am so excited.  I think they are adorable.  Here is a picture of where I decided to hang them.  I have a vintage inspired spice cabinet and bread box and I love the tea towel hanging between them.
Up close

Might as well show you an up close pic of the bread box and spice cabinet.

Check out the towels up close.  I love them.

They are so simple and kind of child like.

Thanks for letting me share some of my joy for today.

Flip Flops

It's January, right?  It's winter, right?    Hmmmm.....  I have been working so hard at the office because everyone in the country, it seems,  is getting snowed in somewhere.  I have been reading all the blogs and looking at all the beautiful pics of snow everywhere.

Well, this is what I saw when I went to Walmart today.
I actually have to say, I love where I live.  We can wear flip flops all year long.  Really!!!  Maybe not first thing in the morning, but afternoon, yes, we can wear flip flops in January!! As a matter of fact, we have so many colors to chose from.  See.....

One thing though, to live here, we always have to keep up the pedicures.

I have been told that I have Barny Rubble feet, but I bet his toes never looked ready for flip flops.

Healthy Living

I work for a very large, major company.  I am sure the company spends millions on our healthcare each year.  Last year the company launched a program called "healthy living".  We now have access to a nutritionist, a healthy living coach, gym memberships, on line "get well" programs, quit smoking programs and on and on......
I got to thinking.  I really need to take advantage of this program.  Last year I had the attitude, "I know what to do to be healthy.  Eat better and exercise"  But I am finding out it is so much more than that.  Just talking to someone, an expert, who doesn't judge, is soooo helpful.

I CAN BE HEALTHY!!!

I found this picture of myself on the internet!!

I came across this print and I love it!!  Of course it is not me, LOL,  but I've said it before, I am a red head and I love finding vintage prints of red heads.  I look just like this when I talk on the phone. HAHA!!Anyway, isn't she cute.   I love the little phone and the stool she is sitting on.  And of course, you can't talk on the phone without wearing your red high heeled pumps!!!

Want some sunshine?

We woke up today and just had energy and cumption.  I think it's because of the wonderful weather.  Other parts of the country are still covered in snow and still house bound.  We opened up the windows and I started cleaning the inside and my sweetie started an outside project that really needed to be done.

When we first bought this house we fell in love with the back yard  We love to entertain and we love to have BBQ's.  So when we saw the backyard, it was love at first sight.  I wish I had a picture of what the patio tile looked like when we moved in.  But over the years, the tile has been breaking and cracking because it was laid on top of concrete.  I guess concrete shifts and expands depending on the weather.  So, this is what he has been doing today.

Poor guy.  But he loves to stay busy.  I wish I had his energy.  While I was taking these pictures I thought this picture would show how nice it is outside today.

Thanks for stopping by.  I will share the patio in it's glory when he is done.

I am feeling overwhelmed

I haven't posted in a while.  I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed these days.  Work is crazy busy.  I also seem to have so much on my mind.  I have committments that need to be fulfilled.    I have projects that I want to start.  I have projects that I want to finish.  I am trying to get a super cleaning done on the house.  I have a diet and exercise program I want to committ to. aahhh!!!

I need to breathe and not get so overwhelmed.  I always get like this at each New Year.

I am reading through all the blogs that I have come to love, ok, calming down a bit.  Also,  got a good laugh from Larainy Days today.  That helps!!

Let me share with you my birthday gift from my sweetie.  It wasn't exactly what I wanted but it is growing on me.  He was so proud of himself for actually going to the store and picking it out. I love that he did that for me so how could I not keep it.  I actually like the way it looks with the quilt hanging behind it on the wall.

I am thinking I might paint it.  It is really white!!  I don't know.  I am going to live with it for a while and see where my vision of it goes.  It really was a nice surprise though!!!

Till next time, thanks for checking in.
